Life is hectic, it is frantic, it is even chaotic at times. But is it really out of control?
If we think about what it is the makes us feel that things are out of control, we need to look at the situations we are facing and really even more deeply, how we are responding to the stimuli.
Life never goes any faster or any slower for us than it does for anyone else, so why does it seem that way at times? It all boils down to how we are reacting and responding to the situations that are presenting themselves to us. May I be brave enough to say that the only thing out of control in most situations is us? The only thing that we can actually control is how we respond to the situation. Even in a life or death situation, we still have the ability to control ourselves, we may not be able to control or even affect the outcome, but we can control our responses.
I like to remind folks that are facing difficulties in their lives that they have never met an obstacle or challenge that they have not been able to overcome. We have all had harrowing times in our lives when we felt as if it was all about to end, but eventually the clouds of despair partled and the sunshine of a new day started to shine once again. Each time we are faced with a challenge we need to remember that we have overcome many challenges in the past and that we have the benefit of drawing on those experiences and the strength that we gained because of them.
So if things seem to be out of control, take a deep breath, relax, and know that you have yet to be defeated when facing a challenge. We are promised that we will never be given more than we can handle.
